Our Shop

Located in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village, Estella is the product of a husband, wife team, Chike Chukwulozie and Jean Polsky. Chike (a Cornell trained former corporate attorney) and Jean (a Harvard MBA and former Bergdorf Goodman buyer) opened the store in 2002 to fill a void in the children’s clothing market. They wanted to create something fresh and distinctive, unique, modern designs for kids that are brought to life with incredible detail, unusual colors and sumptuous fabrics.
The result of our unique approach is an intimate shop filled with gorgeous items that were selected for their beauty and character rather than for their brand. Estella is not a big department store crammed with commercial labels or a trendy shop filled with all the same brands du jour you’ll find everywhere. Estella believes in the beauty of great pieces and the joy of mixing and matching. We avoid trends because we don’t believe in following. Children should be trail-blazers and we hope that Estella will inspire them to burn it up.
Since opening, Estella has become a mainstay for stylish individuals looking to dress the tastemakers of tomorrow. Renowned as the source for cutting edge kids’ style, Estella has quietly established itself as the shop that celebrities, stylists, royalty and those in the know look to when they want something fresh.
“When he’s looking for inspiration, (Isaac) Mizrahi heads to Estella. . . ‘It sounds totally random, I know, but I adore the incredible color sense. They never get too twee the way they do in other kids’ stores – it’s very eclectic and sophisticated in an exclusively New York way.’”
